Though technology, in its increasing ubiquity, largely serves to simplify and make more convenient many daily processes, the extent to which people use and are reliant on technology means that the potential for a vulnerable attack is also heightened. Health care technology has made massive strides in improving quality patient care, making telehealth more accessible to the masses, and cutting down on unnecessary costs. But the more data are digitized, the greater the probability of a breach.

Imagine a scenario of a company selling confidential consumer data from wearable fitness-tracking devices to health insurance companies. The regulatory agencies have determined that critical questions about corporate responsibility and the ethical implications of health information technology (HIT) may have been violated. At the corporate level, the incident underscores the need for robust governance mechanisms to ensure the protection of sensitive health data.

Ethically, this situation prompts a discussion on the principles guiding health information technology. The very purpose of wearable fitness-tracking devices is to empower individuals to monitor and manage their health. However, when the data collected is exploited for financial gains, ethical concerns arise. The unauthorized sale of consumer data violates these principles and raises questions about the accountability of technology companies in safeguarding the privacy of individuals.

This incident highlights the ethical dilemmas that arise as health care technology becomes more integrated into people's lives. The interplay between technology, corporate interests, and individual privacy protected by HIPAA, requires a comprehensive examination of governance structures and ethical frameworks. It also underscores the importance of ongoing dialogue and updates to policies and regulations to keep pace with the evolving landscape of health information technology.

In a paper of 500–750 words, address the following points:

    1. How is this scenario an example of an ethics breach? Discuss the ethics of health care information technology use, patient protections, and governance regulation requirements.

    2. What governance consequences at corporate, local, state, and federal levels might the companies face as a result of this breach?

    3. Moving forward, what changes would the health insurance company need to implement in order to ensure that their communication with customers and corporations is respectful and confidential to ensure ongoing compliance with HIPAA?

    4. How will a renewed commitment by the companies to honor the confidentiality of customer information serve to promote the common good? How is ethical decision-making within a business setting consistent with the Christian worldview (CWV)?

    ## Wk 4 – Course Capstone Project – Interview

    ### Assignment Instructions

In Week 1, you started to prepare for this interview activity. This week, you will interview an individual at a local public health agency (e.g., city, state, or county department of health services or state chapter of the public health association) about the incident you chose to research in Week 1. The purpose of this interview is to gain additional information about the incident for your position paper.

    To prepare for this interview:

Research the public health agency related to your incident. Study the structure of the agency to identify the best job roles within it for your interview. It is a good idea to have several candidates from which to choose in case individuals are not available.

Contact the person(s) to schedule the interview if you haven’t already.

Write a draft of the interview questions ahead of time. Consider what information you need to strengthen your position paper.

**Your interview questions should help you explore the roles and responsibilities of public health agencies in environmental and occupational health incident response.

Interview the official from the public health agency in the incident area. The interview can be conducted in-person or virtually (an in-person or phone interview is encouraged) and should be recorded. Ask for permission to record the interview and include this dialogue in your recording. Take detailed notes during the interview. Review the document on research interviewing skills prior to conducting your interview.

After your interview, write a 525- to 700-word summary of your interview that includes your interview questions and the interviewee’s responses. You do NOT need to include the audio recording of the interview.

Submit your assignment as a Word document (not a PDF).

Education is constantly changing; therefore, educators must be prepared to adapt and grow as the profession evolves. As Piaget theorized, cognitive development occurs in stages, just as one grows as a professional educator. Setting professional goals, demonstrating high expectations, reflecting on personal biases and values, as well as developing a plan to meet your goals are crucial to support professional growth and lifelong learning. Imagine you are applying for a teaching position. Create a 12-15 slide digital presentation and video to share with the hiring committee prior to your interview.
**Part 1: Digital Presentation** For the digital presentation, provide a statement on each of the following and how they may influence your teaching and student learning:
    – Describe your personal values and biases. Include a discussion of ethical behaviors and the cultural framework you will bring to the classroom and the potential effects on student learning. Note: Refer to the Respect for the Diversity of Others, Fairness, and Professional Conduct in the “Professional Dispositions of Learners,” as well as Principles 1 and 3 of the Model Code of Ethics (MCEE) for ideas to support your statements.
    – Discuss what high expectations in the profession personally mean to you in each of the following areas: effective communication (Principles 1 and 4 – MCEE), technology (Principle 5 – MCEE), professional standards of practice (Principle 2 – MCEE), relevant laws and policies (Principle 1 – MCEE). Note: Refer to High Expectations, Professional Conduct, and Honesty in the “Professional Dispositions of Learners” document to support your claims.
    – Identify and discuss 2-3 professional learning goals and 2-3 professional development topics relevant to Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) that will support your future professional practice. Note: Refer to Reflection and Dedication in the “Professional Dispositions of Learners” document and Principle 2 of the MCEE to support your claims.

A lesson can be perfectly planned, but if not implemented correctly it may not be effective for learning. Gathering feedback from others regarding implementation can lead to improved practices for new and experienced teachers. Observing others and being observed is a great way to provide feedback and gather additional data on a lesson’s effectiveness for supporting students in meeting the objective.
Allocate at least 2 hours in an inclusive K-12 classroom that includes students with disabilities for this field experience.
Implement the activity developed with your mentor teacher in Clinical Field Experience B or another activity using technology with the whole class or a small group of students. Be sure to utilize the differentiation strategies you and your mentor teacher discussed to meet the needs of all students in the class/group.
Following the implementation, seek feedback from your mentor teacher. Discuss the following:
    – How the implementation went, include whether the students met the objective of the activity. Discuss how you made this determination.
    – What you and your mentor felt was effective, and what you would do differently next time.
    – The effectiveness of the differentiation and how the technology supported students during the activity.
Spend any remaining field experience hours observing or assisting the teacher in providing instruction and support to the class.
Following the implementation and discussion, write a 250-500 word reflection. Summarize the implementation of the activity and feedback from your mentor teacher. How did the technology used in the activity help meet the needs of all the students in the group or class? What parts of the lesson were effective and what would you change for next time? Did the students meet the objectives of the activity and how did you know?
APA format is not required, but solid academic writing is expected.
This assignment uses a rubric. Review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful completion.

ideation to completed” (2022 paragraph 2). This website further indicates that the
creative brief is a “short document that sums up …. key details with a goal of achieving
stakeholder alignment on a project before it begins” (2022, paragraph 4).

According to the Indeed Editorial Team (March16, 2021, paragraph 1), “A brief can help
you communicate important details to key stakeholders … and can increase the
likelihood that your project will be successful.

In this formative assessment, you will be taking your visioning exercise and moving it
into a brief that will document specific details for a designated audience of the major
change you have determined is needed for your educational program.

Case study – Voices in the Classroom

It was a typical Wednesday morning in Ms. Rivera’s eighth-grade social studies class. She had

planned a thoughtful and engaging lesson on the Civil Rights Movement, complete with short

videos, class discussion, and primary source analysis. The students had just returned from gym

and were still buzzing with energy as they settled into their seats.

As Ms. Rivera began her introduction, she noticed several side conversations already erupting.

In the front row, Jacob whispered to Emma about a basketball tryout. Ms. Rivera glanced in their

direction and made brief eye contact with Jacob, who quickly quieted down. She chose not to

    address it directly.

Two rows back, Monique and Tasha laughed quietly over something on Monique’s phone. Ms.

Rivera continued speaking but walked slowly toward their desk. They tucked the phone away and

turned their attention to the board. Meanwhile, Darius, a student with a history of challenging

authority, leaned across the aisle to talk to Kendall. Their conversation grew louder, and Ms.

    Rivera’s tone sharpened.

“Darius, that’s enough. You’ve been warned about talking. Move your seat to the front—

now.” Darius huffed, grabbed his book bag, and slammed it onto an empty desk near the teacher’s

podium. The class quieted for a moment, sensing tension. Ms. Rivera sighed but moved on with

the lesson, trying to regain momentum.

Fifteen minutes later, while the students were watching a video clip of Martin Luther King Jr.'s “I

Have a Dream” speech, Samantha leaned over to Leo, whispering something that made him laugh.

Ms. Rivera paused the video and addressed the class. “I’ve asked for silence during this part of the

    lesson. This is important material.”

She then looked directly at Samantha. “That’s your warning. Next time, you’ll stay in for lunch

    detention.”

Eric, who often made jokes in class, had commented loudly earlier, “Boring video!” but Ms. Rivera

had ignored him. When Tiana, a quieter student, whispered a question to her table partner later on,

Ms. Rivera raised her voice. “Tiana! That’s enough. You’re being disrespectful.” Tiana’s face

flushed with embarrassment. She hadn't meant to interrupt; she had just been confused about the

timeline discussed in the video. Her classmate tried to defend her, but Ms. Rivera, now visibly

stressed, raised her hand to silence them. “No more talking unless you raise your hand.”

The lesson resumed, but the class atmosphere had shifted. Near the end of class, Ms. Rivera

attempted to turn things around with a more positive strategy. She introduced a “Civil Rights

Gallery Walk,” letting students move around the room to analyze primary documents and

quotes. She praised the groups that followed instructions.

“Nice work, Alex and Jada. I appreciate how focused you are.”

“Great observation, Miguel. That’s exactly what I wanted someone to notice.”

Darius, still isolated at the front, didn’t participate. Tiana avoided eye contact with the teacher.

Samantha finished her gallery activity quickly but said nothing during the share-out. When the bell

rang, students filed out. Ms. Rivera sat at her desk, reflecting on the lesson. She wondered why the

    students always talked during lessons.

planned a thoughtful and engaging lesson on the Civil Rights Movement, complete with short

videos, class discussion, and primary source analysis.
