The goal of the Session Long Project (SLP) was to develop a policy brief. You conducted your own research to develop a policy brief that impacts the field of education and composed a specific section of the policy brief for each SLP assignment. This assignment required a significant amount of time dedicated to locating references and research related to the topic of the policy brief. The components are outlined below:

SLP 1: Title and Executive Summary

SLP 2: Context of Scope of Problem

    SLP 3: Policy Alternatives

    SLP 4: Policy Recommendations

    **SLP 5: Reflection**

Incorporate any feedback from your instructor from SLP 4. Use the questions below to write a 3-page reflective essay:

**Feedback**: “Look to strengthen the analysis by more directly comparing the policy alternatives before transitioning into the recommendations section. While each alternative is well explained, a more explicit evaluation of costs, implementation barriers, stakeholder concerns, and potential unintended consequences would demonstrate a higher level of policy analysis. Overall, nice job with this paper!”

    1. What did you learn from this exercise?

    2. How will this exercise inform your professional practice?

    3. How did the exploration of the research on the topic shape the policy brief?

    4. How do you view your ability as a leader to interpret law and policy?

    a. Do you have more to learn? Explain.

    b. Will your understanding shape your day-to-day practice?

    5. How does policy impact equity and access to education?

Upload the final policy brief and reflective essay as a single document to the SLP 5 DropBox. (13 pages)

    **SLP Assignment Expectations**

This assignment is designated as a Signature Assignment to assess the Institutional Learning Outcome (7):

    Assignment Prompt & Instructions

titled “Forecasting, Extrapolation, and Trends in Managerial Decision-Making”

    – Explain a demand function.
    – Describe how managers use historical data to estimate it, highlighting the roles of regression, trend identification, and extrapolation beyond the observed sample.
    – Describe at least two specific forecasting techniques from the chapter (e.g., linear trend extrapolation or multivariate regression-based forecasts), noting their assumptions, strengths, and limitations for predicting future sales or revenues.
    – Apply one or more of these techniques to a concrete forecasting problem of your choice (such as projecting demand for a new pricing strategy, a product line extension, or an international market expansion), clearly stating your variables, data needs, and the steps you would follow.
    – Evaluate the reliability and ethical use of your forecast.
    – Discuss issues such as model misspecification, overreliance on trends, structural breaks, and the risk of drawing causal conclusions from purely correlational patterns.
    – Your discussion should consistently connect back to the terminology and logic of Chapter 3 (e.g., demand estimation, regression, trends, extrapolation).
    – Show how sound forecasting can inform responsible managerial decisions under uncertainty.

**Note:** Avoid overdependence on direct quotes. Direct quotes are a great way to strengthen our assertions and provide support. However, be sure to avoid using excessive direct quotes in lieu of original thought.

    Assignment Prompt & Instructions

Using all your hard work from previous modules, this week you will write and submit a draft of the written portion of your Final Project. **Refer to your** [**outline**](https://boisestatecanvas.instructure.com/courses/48297/assignments/1664231 "Assignment 2: Final Paper Outline") **to guide the flow of your doc, and use your sources to provide evidence on your topic.** Specific requirements are listed below.

    ### Instructions

For this assignment, you will write and submit an evidence-based paper on the topic you have spent the last few weeks researching.

    1. Access the **TEMPLATE linked at the bottom of the page** and save a copy as " **[Last Name] First Draft Final Doc.**"
    2. The body of the doc must be **3-4 in length**
    – All text should be double-spaced (throughout the entire document, not just the body)
    – This length requirement does _**NOT**_ include your title or references docs. So with these 2 additional docs, the minimum length is more like 5-6.
    3. Include the following:
    – Include a **title doc**
    – Include at least **3 headings**
    – Include a **minimum of 1 reference doc**
    – Include a **minimum of 4 peer-reviewed articles as references**
    – Include a **minimum of 1 in-text citation from** _**each**_ **source** (a minimum of 4 in-text citations total)

    – Ideally, _each paragraph_ should have at least one in-text citation (if not more like 2-4).
    – Remember that in-text citations are not just for quotes! Often the best way to cite a reference is with a parenthetical citation (Author et al., year) at the end of a sentence.
    4. Use **no more than 2** **total direct quotations** for the entire doc. You are _**not**_ _required_ to include _any_ direct quotes. In fact, it is preferred that you do_not_use quotes.
    5. All elements of the paper must be **formatted according to** [**APA 7th edition 'Student doc'**](https://owl.purdue.edu/owl/research_and_citation/apa_style/apa_formatting_and_style_guide/apa_sample_paper.html) requirements.

    – This includes the structure and style of the title and reference pages, as well as [**headings**](https://owl.purdue.edu/owl/research_and_citation/apa_style/apa_formatting_and_style_guide/apa_headings_and_seriation.html) and in-text citations within the body of the paper.
    – Remember that you have many APA resources available to you on the [**APA Formatting Resources**](https://boisestatecanvas.instructure.com/courses/48297/pages/apa-formatting-resources-2 "APA Formatting Resources") doc.
    6. When you are ready to submit, **come back here and upload your document**.

    – **Option 1**: If you used the Word document template, this should be fairly simple. Upload your document as you would any other file.
    – **Option 2**: If you used the Google Docs template, _you will need to download a file of your document_ and then upload it here. As before, **I will** _**NOT**_ **accept a link to a Google Doc**.
