Week 3 Discussion: Data Collection – Group 10

This week you will do your own data collection related to the theory you selected. Remember, the options are only:

    · Erikson’s Intimacy versus Isolation

Now that you have read some of the original writings related to the theory along with current research, you are going to test the theory yourself. The goal based on your data collection is to determine if your theory explains psychosocial development among emerging adults. You will have one week to collect your data.

Each theory has a predeveloped questionnaire to assess the accuracy and timely relevance of the theory.

    [Erikson Questionnaire-1.docx](https://webcourses.ucf.edu/courses/1480630/files/114610976?wrap=1)

You will administer the brief survey to ten people that are age 18 or older. They cannot be students enrolled in this class. It should take less than 10 minutes to complete the survey.

You can NOT collect data from more than 10 people!

You will create a google form to collect your data. You should not be able to see personal information about who completed the survey, such as their name or email address. Once you have your google form ready, you will send (or say) the message below to those you ask to complete the survey and provide the link to your google form.

“Hello! In one of my classes, we are doing a project where we are examining emerging adulthood development. I am required to find at least 10 people to participate. Would you be willing to complete a 10-minute survey to help me with this project? Please click here to complete the survey: (link)”

    **Your Initial Response.**

Once you have received answers from ten people on your survey, you will answer the following discussion prompt.

First, restate the theory you are focusing on. Then, without using any names/identifying information, describe the participants you gave the survey to (e.g., age range). How difficult was it to get people to take the survey? Did you encounter any challenges? Make sure your response meets the word count for the discussion assignments (500-1,000 words) and does not include AI generated content.

    · If you selected Erikson, the questionnaire you will use is here:

    #### **Scenario**

According to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), the probability of a magnitude 6.7 or greater earthquake in the Greater Bay Area is 63%, about 2 out of 3, in the next 30 years. In April 2008, scientists and engineers released a new earthquake forecast for the State of California called the Uniform California Earthquake Rupture Forecast (UCERF).

As a junior analyst at the USGS, you are tasked to determine whether there is sufficient evidence to support the claim of a linear correlation between the magnitudes and depths from the earthquakes. Download the Excel spreadsheet provided below with the data and questions.

    #### **Instructions**

The variables studied in the Excel sheet are:

    – Magnitude measured on the Richter scale
    – Depth in km

Analyze the data and answer the questions presented on the Excel sheet.

The Excel spreadsheet contains four tabs. The first tab, labeled “data,” contains the data you will be using in your calculations. The next three tabs contain questions for you to complete. Ensure that you are completely answering all questions with steps shown, explanations, and correct formatting.
