    • Organize your board: Create sections or categories on your digital platform to
organize your goals (e.g., career milestones, skills development, personal growth).
Arrange the visual elements in a visually appealing and meaningful way.

    • Add descriptions or captions: Include brief descriptions of captions for each
element of your vision board. Explain why each element is significant to your
    professional journey.

    • Integrate a timeline: Integrate a timeline or sequential order to represent the
progression of your goals. Clearly outline the steps or milestones you plan to
    achieve over time.

    • Recall and revise: Take time to reflect on your board before finalizing it. Make any
necessary revisions to ensure that it accurately reflects your aspirations and goals.

Be creative and expressive in your digital vision board. This assignment is not only about
setting goals but also about visualizing and manifesting your path to success. Take your
time, enjoy the process, and use this opportunity to gain clarity and motivation for your

    Assignment Prompt & Instructions

    #### **A Balancing Act**

Balancing the demands of work, parenting, and family is a challenging but necessary task for a significant number of American families. According to the Pew Research Center (2015), 46% of two-parent houses have both parents working full time, which is up from 31% in 1970. These data reveal that family structures have changed greatly and both parents working has become the norm. However, public policy and workplace structure has generally stayed the same. The pressures associated with this mismatch can lead to a stressful and unpredictable home environment.

    To prepare for this discussion,

    – Please refer to the Week 3 Guidance for further tips and examples that will support your success with this discussion.
    – Review the optional resource [Writing A Professional LetterLinks to an external site.](https://writingcenter.uagc.edu/writing-professional-letter).
    – Read Chapter 7: Work and Family Balance in _Children & Families: Understanding Behavior & Dynamics._
    – Locate and read a research-based article that relates to the balancing of work and family. The University of Arizona Global Campus Library is a good place to locate your article. As an alternative, you may use one from the recommended resources section in Week 3.

In your initial post, write a letter to the families you work with that includes the following:

    – Explain how you think the stress of balancing work, parenting, and family can impact children and their behavior.
    – Refer to your textbook and/or outside resources to qualify your own assertions.
    – Describe strategies parents can use to ensure a positive family environment for children and other family members.
    – Include at last two resources in your own community that could aid parents in this balancing act.

    **PowerPoint Presentation Assignment Instructions**

    Overview

This assignment will be very similar to the Research Paper Assignments completed in this course. However, it is our desire that not only do you become a great researcher, but you also become an “expert of the presentation.” When you earn your PhD, you may find yourself in a teaching role. In fact, maybe you will be teaching Transnational Organized Crime! This series of PowerPoint presentations will be a great start in your class preparation. In this assignment you analyze organized crime in various countries and reduce your analysis to a PowerPoint with speaker notes. You will truly be an international criminal. The “crime” committed can be of your choosing as long as it is illegal in the country we are studying. You will find that this very deep dive into the criminal justice systems of each country we study will help you become a world criminal justice system expert.

    Instructions

**_These are minimum guidelines – you may expand the topics covered in your PowerPoint – keep the quality at a doctoral level._**

    1. Analyze the nature of organized crime in the assigned area (you may narrow the scope of your analysis through your introduction if needed)

    1. Analyze the impact of organized crime in the assigned area on the government

    1. Briefly propose policies that may be helpful in mitigating organized crime in the assigned area

    1. A Holy Bible comparison/analysis of the nature of the organized crime system, the impact on the country, or your proposed policy to mitigate the system

Prepare a 10 slide PowerPoint presentation. Title slide(s) and reference slide(s) do not count toward the slide count. The vast slide count difference is because organized crime in some countries is quite easy to study and organized crime in some countries have very limited information. In some instances, there will be a plethora of information and you must use skilled writing to maintain proper slide count. Please keep in mind that this is a doctoral level presentation. Your research must go beyond the mere textbook and have a minimum of 8 scholarly sources. The Holy Bible should be used at least once in the PowerPoint presentation. Each slide (of the 10 slides) must have 200 to 350 words of bulleted or paragraph speakers notes (in speaker notes section of the slide build). The slides should be professional and not cluttered with too many words. The sources should be reflected in the speaker notes, slides, and “reference section slide.” Additionally, you, the student, should use animations, transitions, and graphics to reflect PhD level research. Please review the grading rubric when forming your presentation. Sources should reflect scholarly work but may include .gov information is there is an author or if the information comes from a valid government research database (think CIA, State Department, United Nations, etc.).

    Assignment Prompt & Instructions

ou’ve reached the end of our course. Congratulations!

Think back to your Reflective Portfolio Activity from Unit 1. In the first unit, you were asked to consider the way in which you defined ‘learning’ and how that definition might influence your classroom expectations about student performance. In this last reflection, consider your understanding of ‘teaching’. This final unit included readings that suggest that there is no one theory or approach that applies to each student. Different students with different needs require various approaches; different curricular benchmarks require different delivery styles; different teaching experiences require differentiated approaches.

Given the materials from this unit, as well as any of the earlier materials you have completed, how would you characterize your pedagogical philosophy? Your pedagogy refers to the way in which you construct lesson plans, deliver instruction, evaluate student learning gains, and the strategies you include in your best practices of teaching. If you are currently not teaching, how would you respond if you were? For your consideration, think about:

How do you teach or plan to teach?

Moving forward in your teaching career, what values do you consider a priority?

Which theoretical principles will drive your classroom planning?

Which student characteristics do you think are critical to successful learning?

You may want to review your first Reflective Portfolio Activity in order to ensure you have a complete concept of both ‘teaching and learning’ in your reflection. This final Reflection Activity should serve as a culmination of the course objectives. They are provided here as a reminder to inspire your reflection:

Identify the parameters and crucial features relevant to a learning situation and students

Examine the major theories and models for understanding how students learn—behaviorism, cognitive information processing, observational and social learning, constructionism.

Identify the cognitive, affective, and sensory/psychomotor domains and implications for learning through differing modalities

Explore the contributions of neuroscience to adolescent brain research and understanding behavior

Explain structural barriers to learning such as stereotype threat, curriculum-home mismatch, and use of particularized materials and approaches

Describe the interplay of learner characteristics, prior experiences, learning styles, the medium of instruction, and cultural influences and understand that learning is dependent and contextual with no single theory universally applying to every student in every situation

Review the reading from Schwartz (2012). [Best practices in experiential learning](https://www.mcgill.ca/eln/files/eln/doc_ryerson_bestpracticesryerson.pdf)

Focus on pp 1-2: Experiential learning: An expanded definition. In this section of the reading, Schwartz outlines nine activities that have the potential to be experiential learning experiences depending on the situation. Select one of the nine activities and post a scenario or short lesson that clearly illustrates how your selected activity fulfills the definition of experiential learning. Because the activity must be embedded in the context of the situation to be truly experiential, be sure to include sufficient details in your post to justify your example.
