In everyday usage, the terms self and personality are sometimes used interchangeably to refer to “who
we are.” In the field of psychology, they are related but separate concepts. Personality refers to the
ways individuals think, feel, and behave, and especially their patterns in doing so (Funder, 2024). The
self consists of the information that we have and know about ourselves—our self-knowledge.
Personality traits are one component of this knowledge. Others include where and how we fit in, our
    self-esteem, and our self-efficacy.

For this week’s Discussion, you again have the opportunity to develop your own Discussion question
to ask the class, based on what interests you most about the concept of the self. What you find
interesting can’t be right or wrong, but your grade will be based on the degree to which you are able
to produce a question that promotes critical thinking.

Review the resource Developing Discussion Questions That Promote Critical Thinking (https://cdn-
media.waldenu.edu/2dett4d/Walden/PSYC/3014/DD/scormcontent/index.html#) . This activity will guide
you in how to write a question for this week’s Discussion post that can generate critical thinking
    in your colleagues.
Review Chapter 14 of your course text and consider a question you could ask your colleagues that
promotes critical thinking about some aspect of the self.

Drawing from the information you read about in Chapter 14, develop an original discussion question
that promotes critical thinking for your colleagues to respond to.

Your initial post must provide a rationale or background for the question as illustrated in the example
provided in Learning Activity—Developing Discussion Questions That Promote Critical Thinking. Put your
question in the first line of your post, and put your supporting text below that in your post.

Note: Support your post(s) with evidence from at least one Learning Resource. Be sure to identify
what source(s) you used, both in the body of your post(s) and with a reference at the end of your
    post(s).

Note: You are required to create a thread for your initial discussion post before you will be able
to view other colleagues' postings in this forum.

Note: For this Discussion you are required to respond to two colleagues.

You will post your initial response, and then in Module Eight, you will assess other learners' posts and provide them with your input. This allows you additional time to make your initial post strong, robust, and well-supported.

In Module Seven, consider the following statement:
**"The best-performing companies worry less about performance and more about their organizational capabilities" (Bititci, 2015).** Then, review the interview notes memos for
COMPANY A and Company b. Then think about organizational performance in relation to organizational capabilities and address the following in your initial post:

    · Do you agree with the statement above? Why or why not?

    · How does organizational culture affect capability and performance? For example, an active, participative culture is essential for encouraging organizational learning.

    · What do you think about the organizational culture and capabilities of Companies A and B and their role in the two companies' performances?

    **## book7pt2a.docx**

In Module Seven, you will investigate metrics for determining success in an innovative organization as well as critical factors that can help identify organizations that will be successful at innovating. Over the next two weeks, you will apply and discuss Göran Ekvall's method for measuring the creative climate at an organization by examining ten climate dimensions he identified.

For this activity, choose any real-world organization to evaluate. This could be your current organization or another one with which you are familiar. Alternatively, you may select an organization by conducting an interview with one of its employees to gather insights.

In Module Seven, review the creative climate document and then complete the Dimensions of Creative Climate worksheet (both the document and worksheet are located in the Resources area of Module Seven), which assesses Ekvall's 10 dimensions of a creative climate for your current or chosen organization.

Then, write about your thoughts and address the following in your initial post:

    · Were you surprised by the inclusion of any of Ekvall's ten dimensions? Are there any additional dimensions that you think should have been included?

    · Which dimension of creative climate was the hardest to evaluate? Why?

    · Discuss the one to two dimensions that received the highest and lowest scores. Share your thoughts on why your organization scored that way and what these scores reveal about its creative climate.

In addition, upload the following file:

    · Your completed Ekvall's dimensions of a creative climate assessment using the dimensions of creative climate worksheet

    Overview

Organizational creativity and innovation have proven to be challenging concepts to measure. There is not a particular output that indicates organizational levels of innovation. To flourish, innovation and creativity must be fostered within the organization. They must be established as cultural values in order for the organization to see the benefits.

    Directions

Write a paper evaluating business metrics for innovation. Although business metrics generally measure indicators or outputs of an organization’s culture, we can find correlations between some business metrics and the quality of an organization’s innovation culture. Review the table shown below and answer the following questions.

Specifically, you must address the following rubric criteria:

    1. Evaluate the metrics in the table and whether each metric is an effective measure of innovation and creativity.

    A. Could the metric be an indicator of innovation or an indicator of whether the innovation is incremental or discontinuous?

    B. While evaluating research and development (R&D) headcount, address whether this metric is an indicator of innovation or labor efficiency.

    C. What would it mean if any of these metrics increased over time?

    2. Evaluate and select which company (INAGG, Inc. or AMMB, Inc.) is most likely to have a culture that supports innovation and creativity. Consider the following:

    A. How might non-R&D staff time dedicated to experimenting with new products be an indicator of an innovation culture?

    B. Identify scenarios where having a higher number of patents would not be a reliable indicator of an innovation culture.

    3. Discuss the ability and limitations of using business intelligence (BI) and the metrics provided in the table to measure an organization’s ability to innovate and foster employee creativity.

    A. What are the limitations of the metrics you consider the most effective indicators of an organization’s innovation culture?

    4. How can using a combination of metrics help resolve some of the limitations?

    A. How can business intelligence (BI) be used to evaluate and address the limitations of metrics?

    | | | |
    | — | — | — |
    | **Metric** | **INAGG, Inc.** | **AMMB, Inc.** |
    | Number of active products | 12 | 6 |
    | Research and development (R&D) budget | $10M | $14M |
    | R&D headcount | 52 | 33 |
    | % of sales from products introduced in the past four years | 15% | 35% |
    | Number of new products launched in the past four years | 7 | 3 |
    | Employee time dedicated to experimenting with new products | Not tracked | 10% |
    | Number of patents in the last four years | 7 | 23 |
    | Note: Both companies are in the same industry and make similar products. They have the same number of total employees, revenue, and length of time in business. |

    What to Submit

Submit a two-page Word document with double spacing, 12-point Times New Roman font, and one-inch margins. Sources should be cited in APA format.

Prepare an analysis (5-7 pages) of an adverse event or a near miss from your professional nursing experience and outline a QI initiative that would address it.

    **Introduction**

Health care organizations strive to create a culture of safety. Despite technological advances, quality care initiatives, oversight, ongoing education and training, legislation, and regulations, medical errors continue to be made. Some are small and easily remedied with the patient unaware of the infraction. Others can be catastrophic and irreversible, altering the lives of patients and their caregivers and unleashing massive reforms and costly litigation. Many errors are attributable to ineffective interprofessional communication.

    **Overview**

The goal of this assessment is to allow you to focus on a specific event in a health care setting that impacts patient safety and related organizational vulnerabilities and to propose a QI initiative to prevent future incidents. It will give you the chance to develop your analytical skills in the problem-solving contexts you likely find yourself in as a health care professional.

Health care organizations strive for a culture of safety. Yet, despite technological advances, quality care initiatives, oversight, ongoing education and training, laws, legislation, and regulations, medical errors continue to occur. Some are small and easily remedied with the patient unaware of the infraction. Others can be catastrophic and irreversible, altering the lives of patients and their caregivers and unleashing massive reforms and costly litigation.

Historically, medical errors were reported and analyzed in hindsight. Today, QI initiatives attempt to be proactive, which contributes to the amount of attention paid to adverse events and near misses. Backed up by new technologies and reporting metrics, adverse events and near misses can provide insight into potential ways to improve care delivery and ensure patient safety.

For clarification, the National Quality Forum (n.d.) defines the following:

    · Adverse event: An event that results in unintended harm to the patient by an act of commission or omission rather than by the underlying disease or condition of the patient.

    · Near miss: An event or a situation that did not produce patient harm, but only because of intervening factors, such as patient health or timely intervention.
