It is important for healthcare leaders to make informed decisions for the organization and their patients. Collecting data is only part of the picture. After the information has been collected, the work begins to analyze the data for meaning or themes. The quantity of data can be overwhelming to a single researcher, but machine-based algorithms can process data that is vast in quantity (big data). In the healthcare delivery system, data scientists use big data to improve patient experiences, provide more positive healthcare outcomes, and reduce costs for the healthcare organization and patients. Additionally, big data can be used to make predictions regarding possible epidemics, improve decision-making policies, and reduce mortality-morbidity rates.
According to Delen, Sharda, and Turban (2023), “Big data and analytics instigate new ways to transform processes, organizations, entire industries, and even society altogether” (p.369). By incorporating and analyzing big data, caregivers can improve their diagnostic accuracy through the identification of treatment actions and outcomes.
In this week’s discussion address the following prompts in a minimum of 500 words:
    – Discuss the importance of big data and its contribution to improving health care outcomes for patients.
    – Describe how big data is changing the decision-making processes for administrative and clinical care.
    – Explain stream analytics and how it differs from regular analytics.
    – Describe the motivations for using stream analytics.
    – Discuss three problems that can be addressed or improved with big data analytics. Examples: Regulatory Compliance, Risk Management, Improved Customer Experience, Enhanced Security Efficiency.

A business intelligence (BI) plan, or roadmap, is derived from data sets encompassing a multitude of factors in a healthcare organization. The BI plan, with data mining and statistics, measures a healthcare organization’s performance and seeks to determine the organization’s competitive advantage among a service demographic, such as cardiac care, orthopedic care, renal care, and long-term care. According to Delen, Sharda, and Turban (2023), “BI cannot simply be a technical exercise for the information systems department. It has to serve as a way to change the manner in which the company conducts business by improving its business processes and transforming decision making processes to be more data driven” (p. 20).
Imagine, you are the lead manager of the information systems department at Green Valley Hospital Center. The hospital is an 800-bed comprehensive facility that specializes in orthopedic surgery for older patients. The hospital is committed to bringing state-of-the-art healthcare services with a focus on diversity, equity, and quality of care to their patients. You and your team will be working with administrative staff, including all C-Suite administrators and officers. You are tasked with developing and presenting a PowerPoint presentation on the development process for a healthcare organization’s BI plan.
    In your presentation,
    – Define Business Intelligence (BI) and its applicability to the healthcare delivery system.
    – Explain how data mining techniques can be implemented and what information can be derived from these techniques.
    – Discuss how BI is clearly linked to an organizational strategy and the execution of an organization’s strategic plans.
    – Define descriptive analytics, predictive analytics, and prescriptive analytics.
    – Discuss how the five tenets of healthcare are implemented into a healthcare organization’s business intelligence plan.
    – Analyze technology and architecture and how they impact the development of a business intelligence plan.
    – Explain the four primary steps that will be used in creating your team’s successful BI plan (road map).
    – Discuss the possible legal issues related to privacy and ethics regarding the implementation of analytics.

    **Research Paper Tips**

    Please use the
**Research Paper Assignment Instructions** so you can follow along with these important notes. As with any assignment, please review the instructions and the rubric carefully.

Here are a few helpful tips on writing your research paper:

    1. You are required to use the same approved topic you submitted in Module 1: Week 1. Faculty will check that the same topic is used in the paper to ensure you have researched the approved article/topic. Remember that week 1 article submission was a 0/0 points because the submission goes into the research paper points. Failure to submit a topic for approval by week 3 results in a zero score for the week 7 paper. The purpose is to research the topic throughout the course.

    2. Ensure you apply the topic to a specific organization as you noted in your article summary. Often, it’s easy to get caught up in the topic itself, you can forget to apply it.

    3. Do not forget to utilize the problem-solving framework. Your DB assignments have helped you in applying and writing this with various case studies so now you get to apply it with your specific article/topic. Remember the steps and include this as part of your solution.

    **Formatting your paper**

    1. The instructions are very specific on how to format your paper. Please ensure you read this portion carefully. Remember that the length does not include the title, abstract, or reference list.

    **## ArticleTopic.docx**

    **1. Summary of the Article**

This article examines organizational commitment, particularly among female officers in the U.S. Navy. The researcher sought to determine the effects of leadership style and perceived organizational support (POS) on officers' decisions to remain in or depart the Navy. According to the study, officers' levels of commitment, particularly affective commitment (emotional connection) and normative commitment (feeling of duty), increase when they perceive that the Navy is supporting them and when they have excellent leadership.

The research used Meyer and Allen’s three-component model of commitment. Officers who felt like the Navy valued their work and had good leadership were less likely to want to leave. The study suggests that improving how leadership communicates and increasing support could improve commitment across the Navy, not just with women officers. Even though the focus was on women, the findings can apply broadly to how the Navy manages retention and motivation.

    **2. Topic and Organization**

    **Topic:** Organizational Commitment

    **Organization:** U.S. Navy

    **3. Research Theory**

The Three-Component Model of Organizational Commitment by Meyer and Allen is used in this article. Normative commitment (the moral duty to stay), continuation commitment (the expense of quitting), and affective commitment (emotional connection) are all included in the paradigm. This means that in the Navy, people stay because they feel a sense of loyalty and emotional attachment to the service, in addition to the pay and perks. According to the study, affective and normative commitment rises when people experience strong leadership and support.

**Research Paper Assignment**. Please follow and format your paper accordingly.

    **Instructions**
    **Step 1**
In the beginning of this course, you submitted a scholarly, peer-reviewed article for approval. For this research paper, you will discuss the importance of that article in regards to organizational behavior while using the problem-solving, integrative framework learned in Chapter 1. With your organizational problem, provide the following information:

    1. Brief summary of your organization.

    2. Synopsis of the organizational challenges (Step 1 on the problem-solving approach)

    · What is the major overriding issue?

    · Provide the facts and examples to support the explanation of the problem.

    · Discuss key issues that merit the discussion.

    3. Who are the various individuals and what part do they play? (Step 2 on the problem-solving approach)

    · What challenges, threats, or opportunities do they pose?

    · Explain the role of leadership in the situation.

    · Provide any environmental issues that should be considered.

As you discuss these areas to address the first portion of the problem-solving framework, provide examples and research to support your discussion.
    **Step 2**
Now that you have laid the foundation of the problem, explain how the theory you researched applies. Provide in depth analysis with your article as the main evidence.

    1. Explain the author’s current view on the chosen organizational theory and how it relates to your problem.

    2. Provide key indicators that the author applies from theory to the concept in organizational behavior.

    3. Discuss what you believe are the most relevant portions of the article that tie the theory and concepts with your organizational issue to create an explanation for the problem. In other words, if you had to explain the organizational issue to someone, how would you relate it to what the author has stated?
    **Step 3**
The final process (Step 3) in the problem-solving framework is recommendations. Based on your research, use this final step to provide recommendation plans for the problem. Do you want to resolve, solve, or dissolve the problem? Consider the consequences as well for the plan of action in your recommendation. Use well-thought-out ideas and research to support your plan. Describe where you see your personality style fitting into your recommendation for the organization to make your plan work, to tie in the previous papers. Apply what you have learned through Scripture, describing how the Lord can utilize your strengths to implement the recommendation plan.

    **Formatting**

    1. Use proper, current APA format for every element of the paper. Be sure to include the APA-formatted cover page, abstract, and reference page. Refer to your APA manual for help. Since this is a graduate level course, students need to follow the professional version format and not the student version format.

    2. Write in first person—this is allowed due to the personal nature of the assignment.

    3. To facilitate the instructor’s grading of these assignments, you must have major headings for Step 1, Step 2, and Step 3. Additionally, under the major headings, you must have subheadings as you see fit for the outlined instructions.

    4. The exact number of paragraphs that you include in each section is your decision; your instructor will not be grading you on how many paragraphs you used per section, but rather the extent to which you specifically addressed each of the areas above.

    5. The last section of the project needs to include a conclusion. The conclusion should be a well-rounded summary of the topics in the paper and should suggest a variety of opportunities for future use of topics/relevance/purpose.

    6. The 8–10 required pages do not include the title page, abstract page, or reference page. Those must be counted as additional pages.

    7. Be sure to double-space, using Times New Roman 12-point font only, use 1-inch margins, and avoid bold font (except for headlines, per current APA format), underlining, and contractions.

    8. The reference page must include a
minimum of the 5 following references in current APA format (all sources must be evident within the paper):

    · The approved article for research

    · The approved article for research

    · Both of the course textbook(s)

    **Research Paper Assignment Instructions**

    **Overview**

    Please refer to the
**Article Submission Assignment** from the beginning of the course to complete the
**Research Paper Assignment**.

    · Both of the course textbook(s)

    · 2 other scholarly sources from a peer-reviewed journal

    **## JournalArticleReviewAssignmentInstructions7.docx**

    BUSI 613

    **Journal Article Review Assignment Instructions**

    **Overview**

MBA programs around the country are starting to require their students to become more effective writers. This is in response to industry’s urging for grad schools to improve the writing skills of graduate students. Writing at the MBA level should be informative, colorful, and nuanced, and the writing should include simple words vs. complicated (especially if used out of context).

As you read the journal articles for this course, remember the context of the MBA degree. The MBA is a practitioner’s degree. The degree signifies that you can think, analyze, solve problems, and then communicate solutions to business executives effectively and efficiently. Your analysis of the discussion in the articles, the articles’ relationship to this course, and implications related to each reading assignment will prepare you to communicate in this manner.

    **Instructions**

In each assigned module, you will choose 1 journal article from those provided in the course. Reviews of substitute articles will not be accepted. Write a
**Journal Article Review** of 900-1200 words, not including the title page or reference page. For each
**Journal Article Review**, you must discuss how the theoretical model or treatment described in the article compares to the information discussed in your textbook. No more than 20% of each
**Journal Article Review** may be quotations. You must cite and reference the original article, the course textbook, and one additional scholarly article.

    Each
**Journal Article Review** assignment must include these sections:

    · Title page

    · Article caption at top of first page of text (current APA style) to identify the article

    · Statement of the author's purpose (100 words)

    · Background of the issue (175 words)

    · Application of supply chain management theory relevant to article (175 words)

    · Managerial implications of article findings (350 words/2–3 paragraphs)

    · Summary of the article and its context (100 words)

    · References (Current APA style)

Students must follow this format for their review.

Note: Your assignment will be checked for originality via the Turnitin plagiarism tool.
