    Assignment Prompt & Instructions

One of the main differences between the healthcare systems of the United Kingdom and the United States lies in their financing structure. The United Kingdom operates under a public healthcare system known as the National Health Service (NHS), funded by the government through taxes (Childers, 2016). In contrast, the US healthcare system is predominantly private and relies heavily on health insurance, much of which is obtained through employment (Knickman & Elbel, 2023). This difference makes access to healthcare services in the United Kingdom more equitable, while in the United States, large inequalities persist based on socioeconomic status (Wager et al., 2024). The universality of the NHS contrasts with the fragmentation of the US system.

Another key difference is the overall cost of healthcare. The United States spends significantly more per person on healthcare than the United Kingdom, but does not necessarily achieve better outcomes. According to the Peterson-Kaiser Health System Tracker, the United States has higher rates of postoperative adverse events, such as blood clots, compared to similar countries (Wager et al., 2024). Despite high costs, millions of Americans remain uninsured or have limited access to quality services. The United Kingdom's system, on the other hand, shows better results on certain public health indicators, such as preventive care and postoperative care.

Advanced practice nurses (APRNs) have a significant opportunity to influence healthcare policy in the United States by promoting reforms that promote equitable access and system efficiency. A key policy intervention would be to advocate for an expansion of health coverage through public programs or for strengthening the Affordable Care Act (ACA). They can also influence policies that remove barriers to their independent practice, allowing for greater availability of services in underserved communities (Knickman & Elbel, 2023). Their role as community health advocates and primary care leaders allows them to identify gaps and propose evidence-based solutions. Their active participation in lobbying and legislative development can catalyze significant changes.

Furthermore, APRNs can leverage their clinical expertise to participate in legislative committees, advisory boards, and professional organizations. They can lead educational campaigns targeting legislators and the public on the benefits of a more equitable and preventative system (Knickman & Elbel, 2023). Through data collection and research, they can support their proposals with concrete evidence on the costs and outcomes of care. They can also develop strategic alliances with other healthcare professionals to strengthen their political voice. In short, advanced practice nurses have the knowledge and positioning necessary to be key agents of change in reforming the American healthcare system.

    Assignment Prompt & Instructions

The healthcare systems in the United States and the United Kingdom represent fundamentally different approaches to healthcare financing and delivery. A key difference lies in the model of healthcare funding. The United Kingdom operates under a publicly funded system known as the National Health Service (NHS), which provides care that is free at the point of service and is funded primarily through taxation. In contrast, the United States employs a multi-payer system where healthcare is predominantly financed through private insurance, employer-sponsored coverage, and out-of-pocket payments (Tikkanen et al., 2020). This often results in significant disparities in access to care in the U.S., especially for uninsured or underinsured populations.

Another critical difference is the cost of healthcare. The United States spends significantly more on healthcare per capita compared to the UK, yet often yields poorer health outcomes such as higher infant mortality rates and lower life expectancy (Schneider et al., 2021). The administrative costs in the U.S. are notably higher due to the complexities of dealing with multiple insurance providers, which contrasts with the more streamlined administrative process in the NHS.

Advanced Practice Nurses (APNs) can play a pivotal role in advocating for health system improvements in the U.S. Through policy advocacy and involvement in political processes, APNs can support initiatives that promote universal coverage, cost control, and health equity. For instance, APNs can advocate for expanded roles in primary care, greater reimbursement parity, and telehealth legislation that broadens access to underserved areas (Brokaw et al., 2022). Engagement with professional organizations and legislative bodies can amplify the nursing voice in shaping health policy reform toward more sustainable and equitable care models.

    ### CliniClinical Skills and Procedures Self-Assessment Procedures Self-Assessment

Before embarking on any professional or academic activity, it is important to understand the background, knowledge, and experience you bring to it. You might ask yourself “What do I
    _already_ know? What do I
_need_ to know? And what do I
_want_ to know?” This critical self-reflection is especially important for developing clinical skills, such as those for advanced practice nursing.

The FNP Clinical Skills List and Resource Review document, provided in the Learning Resources, can be used to celebrate your progress throughout your practicum and identify skills gaps. The list covers all of the necessary skills you should demonstrate during your practicum courses. The FNP Procedure List and Resource Review contains a list of procedures you may have an opportunity to perform at your practicum site. As you perform the procedures (as applicable), record them at the bottom of the list and have your preceptor sign off on it.

For this Assignment, you assess where you are now in your clinical skill development and make plans for your practicum. Specifically, you will identify strengths and opportunities for improvement regarding the required practicum skills and procedures.

    Assignment Prompt & Instructions

    [>Management homework help](https://www.sweetstudy.com/fields/business-finance-management)

As a scholar, practitioner, and leader in research design, you will need an understanding of basic and applied research methods and how to construct methodological concepts appropriate to research methods.

For this assessment, you will consider appropriate design options for your research plan.

    Assessment Deliverable

Create a 16-slide presentation that outlines the research options for your potential dissertation research. Include the following in your presentation:

    Slide 1: Title Slide

Title of your presentation, your name, course, and date.

    Slides 2–3: Introduction

Provide an overview of your program of study and the selected topic you are considering researching for your dissertation.

State the purpose of your analysis (to identify and compare qualitative and quantitative research characteristics, research designs, and their justifications).

Speaker Notes: Introduce yourself and your program of study, and explain why understanding research methods and designs is critical in your field.

Slides 4–6: Characteristics of Quantitative Research

    Summarize the quantitative research article.

Explain the characteristics that make the study quantitative, including:

Structured data collection (e.g., surveys, experiments, measurements).

    Numeric data and statistical analysis.

    Deductive reasoning and hypothesis testing.

Highlight specific examples from the article (e.g., types of variables, data collection methods, sample size).

Speaker Notes: Referencing particular examples, explain how the study's design aligns with quantitative methods.

Slides 7–9: Characteristics of Qualitative Research

    – Summarize the qualitative research article.
    – Explain the characteristics that make the study qualitative, including:
    – Exploratory focus and natural settings.
    – Subjective meanings and rich descriptions.
    – Use of themes and inductive analysis.
    – Highlight specific examples from the article (e.g., interview protocols, participant observations, coding methods).
    – Speaker Notes: Provide insights into how the article exemplifies qualitative research characteristics.

    Slide 10: Research Design Choices

    – Discuss the research design used in each study (e.g., experimental, survey, ethnography, grounded theory, case study).
    – Explain how the chosen design aligns with the method and the research problem.
    – Speaker Notes: Highlight the connection between research methods, designs, and the types of research questions they address.

Slide 11: Justification for Research Method and Design

    – Justify why the qualitative method and design were appropriate for the first study.
    – Justify why the quantitative method and design were appropriate for the second study.
    – Speaker Notes: Use evidence from the articles to support your explanation and connect the justifications to theoretical or practical considerations.

    Slide 12: Comparison and Contrast

    – Analyze the major differences between qualitative and quantitative research methods and designs, addressing:
    – Purpose and philosophical assumptions (e.g., postpositivist vs. constructivist worldviews).
    – Data collection and analysis approaches.
    – Strengths and limitations of each method and design.
    – Use examples from your articles to illustrate the contrasts.
    – Speaker Notes: Provide additional context and examples to support your analysis.
    – Slide 13: Challenges in Using Each Method and Design

    – Discuss challenges researchers face when using quantitative and qualitative methods (e.g., ensuring validity, managing data complexity).
    – Discuss the challenges researchers face when using the proposed research design.
    – Propose strategies to overcome these challenges.
    – Speaker Notes: Reflect on how these challenges could impact research outcomes and provide practical solutions.

    Slides 14–15: Conclusion

    – Summarize your findings, emphasizing the importance of aligning research questions, methods, and designs.
    – Reflect on how this understanding applies to your program of study.
    – Speaker Notes: Highlight key takeaways and connect them to real-world applications in your field.

    Slide 16: References

    – Include properly formatted APA references for the articles and any other sources used.
    – Speaker Notes: Briefly explain the importance of citing sources and how these references supported your presentation.

Format your citations and references according to current APA guidelines.

    Submit your assessment.
